HAYDEN DAUFELDT

How did you first become involved with UI Children's Hospital?

January 15th 2013 then again in November 10th 2014

How was your exprience at UI Children's Hospital?

The days and nights kind of ran together the first two weeks Hayden was in the PICU. In and out of surgery then recovering. On the day he had surgery to remove the tumor was pretty stressful. However, we had a lot of family support with us. And the PICU staff would check in with us every hour or two. The surgery, including pre and post operation totaled 19 hours. From the Neuro Surgeon team, the PICU team, to Hayden’s Current Hematology/Oncology team we could ask for better.

What would you tell other parents about UI Children's Hospital?

Ask questions, they are a learning Hospital so the more you involve yourself in your child’s care the better. The staff from the Child Life, Nurses and Doctors are so friendly and help you with any of your needs. It is so great that there is a Children’s Hospital this close to Muscatine, We wouldn’t have taken Hayden anywhere else for treatment.
